Leopard Week 3: Make Time Machine backup to unsupported drives (SMB NAS etc)

This week’s tip is short and sweet. All it requires is for you to run some code using Terminal.

Simply Launch terminal (type term into spotlight and hit enter)

Type the following:

defaults write com.apple.systempreferences TMShowUnsupportedNetworkVolumes 1 (all on the same line)

Hit Enter!

Enjoy! Leopard should now allow backing up to those NTFS drives over Windows etc.

On another note I bought my iPhone tonight. Had it about 30 minutes after launch I think that’s a record for me! I’ll let you know what I think in a few weeks time.
