How to: Yahoo HD Trailers and Quicktime .qtl

Ok so you want to watch the latest Simpsons trailer that isn’t available anywhere but Yahoo. You select to watch it in 720p format and wait for Quicktime to load. Except it doesn’t. Instead it downloads a .qtl file to your desktop which is completely useless if you try to load it in Quicktime. Here’s a fix for now until Yahoo fix the problem.

Open the .qtl in Text Edit.

You should see a big long URL in ” “. You need the one that starts with http://playlist.yahoo.com…

Paste that into Safari or Quicktime. Enjoy!

What an annoying bug. I just used your tip to get a trailer to load on my Windows XP machine as well. Thanks for posting this solution!
