Leopard Week 1: Careful with permissions!

October 28th, 2007

It’s Sunday 28th of October, two days since the release of Leopard. I’ve been running OSX 10.5 since Friday and everything is working very smoothly. I love the new look and have enjoyed playing around with Time Machine. I can’t wait for some hacks to allow backing up to SMB shares!

All I have to say this week is be careful with permissions. I was in System Pref playing around with Leopard’s Cool new File Sharing features and I accidently removed myself from the Admins of my HDD. I didn’t think this would actually effect my permissions within OSX but it did. Nothing would load up and OSX failed to do anything after the boot screen at power.

I managed to fix this nightmare by running Disk Utility from  my install disk and then selecting to Repair Permissions on my main HDD.

All for now!

How to: Yahoo HD Trailers and Quicktime .qtl

June 22nd, 2007
