God it looks nice. So many features, beautiful design. $499 for a 4GB internal HD and $599 for 8GB. iPhone. (apple.com) High quality images. (appleinsider.com)   3.5 inch widescreen display, 320 x 480 at 160dpi and just 11.6mm thin, but I’ll let the picture do the talking, it’s simply stunning. Of course if Apple makes it you expect it to be stunning anyway but this is certainly a must have gadget. It’s got a multi-touch display which they claim is THE most accuarate touch display ever made. It’s fully operated using just your fingers so there’s no fiddly stylus to deal with. It has proximity sensors which can sense when the phone is next to your ear, so you won’t go ending the call accidently when it’s up next to your ear. It also senses for ambient lighting which means it’ll be brighter in dark areas and not so much in light areas, right? I dunno maybe the other way around. You unlock it just by sliding your finger across the screen, how cool? And not only does it call people, but it’s also a 4gb iPod, with Music, Video, podcasts etc. (or 8GB if you fancy paying an extra $100). They also claim it’s a ‘breakthrough’ communication device, even though all it can do is send emails, use widgets, browse (fully) the internet in safari. The fact that Google maps is built in would be great for citys which support freely available WiFi, but there’s hardly any of them in the UK. They didn’t show us any iChat features which I kind of expected. It’s got a built in 2MP camera on the back and really good picture management, which is an interesting feature for me considering i’m a keen photographer. It automatically change’s the screen to the way you’re holding it e.g horizontally or vertically. It’s got built in WiFi and Bluetooth 2.0 along with EDGE (no idea what this is personally.)You can expect to see it June 2007 in the US for $499 (4GB) or $599 for the 8GB model. The UK and the rest of Europe will have to wait till the end of 2007 and some places such as Asia will need to wait till 2008. I’m guessing that £299 and £399 will be the pricing for the UK, oh and i’m interested to see how the Voicemail feature will work with UK networks, I hope I can keep my O2 number though. (If I ever get one :P)
