Disable automated iPhone backup in iTunes

Everytime you sync your iPhone using iTunes it will try to make a full backup image of your phone. This is a great idea but it takes AGES and personally if my phone was to break I’d rather restore to a blank OS anyway. I assume this will work with the iPod Touch as well.

Leopard Week 3: Make Time Machine backup to unsupported drives (SMB NAS etc)

This week’s tip is short and sweet. All it requires is for you to run some code using Terminal.
Simply Launch terminal (type term into spotlight and hit enter)
Type the following:
defaults write com.apple.systempreferences TMShowUnsupportedNetworkVolumes 1 (all on the same line)
Hit Enter!
Enjoy! Leopard should now allow backing up to those NTFS drives over Windows etc.

Leopard Week 1: Careful with permissions!

It’s Sunday 28th of October, two days since the release of Leopard. I’ve been running OSX 10.5 since Friday and everything is working very smoothly. I love the new look and have enjoyed playing around with Time Machine. I can’t wait for some hacks to allow backing up to SMB shares!
